EP conversation on “Future of the EU livestock sector – The way forward?”, which will be held on Tuesday 21 March from 12h30 to 14h00, at the European Parliament (Brussels) under the patronage of Vice President Mairead McGuinness and Michel Dantin, MEP.

The European beef sector is at the foundation of the economic fabric of many regions across the EU. In the meantime, it is confronted with vital challenges, in relation with global competition, depressed consumption on the internal market, not mentioning the domino effect of the milk expansion strategy of the EU in the post quotas context.

The debate will be structured as follow:

Opening remarks by VP Mairead McGuinness

– 1st Part: Situation of the sector – challenges ahead

Panelists: Jean-Pierre Fleury (FNB), Patrick Kent (ICSA), Elide Stancari (Confagricoltura).

– 2nd Part: Recommendations on a new ambition for the EU beef sector
