Sustainability and Sovereignty Radar of Food Systems (2026)
The updated Sustainability and Sovereignty Radar of Food Systems provides an analytical overview of the health and ongoing dynamics of the EU agricultural and food sector, based on 14 indicators.
The 2026 update shows that the EU remains an agricultural powerhouse, maintaining a positive trade balance in both plant and animal food products. Environmental indicators are also improving, with positive trends in the use of the most harmful phytosanitary products and in emissions.
However, the radar highlights continued concerns around the socio-economic situation of European agriculture, particularly declining incomes and policy constraints that limit the sector’s ability to meet growing demand for animal feed and bioeconomy raw materials.
