Presentation and discussion on Farm Europe’s report on “Producing Fuels and Feeds – A matter of Security and Sustainability for Europe”.
The event will provide you with an opportunity to exchange ideas on the various issues related to this very highly debated topic, in the most objective way with a wide range of stakeholders.
The agri-food sector is at the crossroads between huge opportunities and massive pressure. Every single decision needs to be informed by a wide range of factors, where citizen expectations, breakthrough technologies and consumption patterns in developed but also in developing countries are only the tip of the iceberg.
To cope with these challenges we truly believe that we need a strong strategic vision both at world level and in the European Union, where we have a real responsibility, taking into account our contribution to global food security in Europe and abroad.
The Global Food Forum will gather passionate political and business leaders willing to share insights on their vision, as well as on possible pathways for future developments, aiming to enhance both economic performance and environmental sustainability – around 250 participants representing key influencers of the EU debate will participate, including many MEPs and Ministers that already support this initiative.

The EU-MERCOSUR Free Trade negotiations were launched by the end of 1995, more than 20 years ago. The stop and go pattern reached a high go point in 2004 when both the EU and the then 4 Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) got very close to concluding the deal.
The European beef sector is one of the most important agri-food sectors in Europe. Profound changes in consumption, technologies, and public policy & international trade are combining to make the future unpredictable, or at least difficult to foresee.
Farm Europe organises a panel discussion on “CAP – Beyond the crisis, paving the way for a sustainable growth” under the patronnage of MEP Michel Dantin, with the participation of Commissioner Phil Hogan and MEP Paolo De Castro.
The debate will be opened by Mr Simon Coveney, the Irish Minister for Agriculture and followed by a panel discussion fuelled by :

The debate will be the first step of Farm Europe’s work on the topic, the objective being to prepare recommandations at European level, at a time where many legal initiatives are taken from France to Ireland, from Latvia to Germany, not mentioning the debates going on in the UK.
Our session will be fuelled by our senior fellow, Horacio Aleman and our speakers, Francesco Tramontin, director of External Affairs at Mondelez International, and Alberto Alemanno, Professor of EU law and Risk Regulation at HEC.
