The discussion on how to promote the digitalisation of EU agriculture and how to integrate it into a smart Common Agricultural Policy was chaired by Jean-Marc Bournigal, Director General of AGPB & former President of Irtsea (L‘Institut de Convergence Agriculture Numérique).

GFF2017 - InvitationThe 2017 Global Food Forum will take place on the 20-21 October 2017, focusing on “EU food systems: building economic & environmental value chains”. Discussions will take place in Italy, in a rural village and vineyards around Susegana, close to Venice, and a report of the event will be presented later to EU decision-makers. 

The  Forum will start on the 19th of October at 19h00 with informal dinner among participants allowing an initial round of exchanges. On the 20th of October, the morning session will focus on the strategic approach to be developed for a shared ambition between EU food systems and EU society, while discussions among participants will be developed throughout the afternoon sessions around 6 World-café workshops held in parallel. On the 21st of October, building upon the work of the previous day, participants will have the chance to discuss with EU key political leaders on how to build resilient economic & environmental value chains for EU food systems via an ambitious EU policy.

Biofuels: surmounting populism for a fact-based policy

Under the patronage of Ms Angelique Delahaye and Mr Peter Jahr, MEPs, this event will be an opportunity to present the Green Energy Platform initiative, whose aim is to strongly support the EU sourced biofuels, developed in close relation with the EU agricultural sector.

The European Union should be proud of its agriculture, which is in a position of securing at the same time a high level of food security and an efficient contribution to mitigate climate change via sustainable biofuels production.

New Breeding Techniques: What are we talking about ?

This event will be an opportunity to better understand the potential risks and benefits of the new plant breeding techniques thanks to a direct discussion with well-known scientists. This event will shed light on the challenges in relation to the on going discussions around the future of plant improvements at European level and in EU Member States.

Future of the EU livestock sector – The way forward

EP conversation on “Future of the EU livestock sector – The way forward?”, which will be held on Tuesday 21 March from 12h30 to 14h00, at the European Parliament (Brussels) under the patronage of Vice President Mairead McGuinness and Michel Dantin, MEP.

The European beef sector is at the foundation of the economic fabric of many regions across the EU. In the meantime, it is confronted with vital challenges, in relation with global competition, depressed consumption on the internal market, not mentioning the domino effect of the milk expansion strategy of the EU in the post quotas context.

The debate will be structured as follow:
