Removing the legal barriers for farmers markets around the world

 

The World Farmers Markets Coalition organises a webinar during which keynote speakers and representatives of farmers market organisation will debate about legal barriers for farmers markets in different countries and how to remove these obstacles in order to promote their development, competitiveness, and growth.

Last July 2021, during the Pre-Summit of the UN Food Systems Summit in Rome, together with partners from all over the World and with the support of the FAO, the Italian Farmers Markets Foundation Campagna Amica officially launched the “World farmers markets coalition”. This coalition involves today many Organizations, Associations and Foundations organizing, managing and promoting farmers markets in many countries globally, including, United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Austria, Chile, Bangladesh, Georgia, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Ghana, Georgia, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The Coalition’s main role is that of promoting direct selling and proximity through the model represented by farmers markets.

Agricultural Climate Insurance

Under the patronage of MEP Aguilera & Tolleret, Agricultural Climate Insurance will be discussed at at high-level conference next Friday, December 10th, from 10h00 to 11h30 a.m. on Zoom platform.

Institutions, operators, and political figures will contribute to the discussion to understand how Agriculture Climate Insurance can be structured and, possibly, reformed to make it efficient and inclusive.

Nutri-Score – A high-level dialogue between science, citizens, and operators

Farm Europe & Eat Europe organise a high-level discussion on “Nutriscore: a high-level dialogue between science, citizens, and operators” this coming Tuesday, November 23rd from 14h00 to 16h00, on Zoom.
Researchers,  nutritionists, MEPs, and stakeholders will contribute to the discussions to understand how this Front-of-Package National Label works, what are its benefits and its flaws so to set the basis for the EU debate on nutrition & education.

GFF 2021: How can the Green Deal be a good deal ?

 

 

The Green Deal: how to make it a good deal ? To meet this challenge in the agricultural sector, Europe will need to mobilise all energies and goodwill !

That’s why Farm Europe will gather, for the 5th edition of the Global Food Forum, prominent figures from the European institutions, national Ministers, economic leaders from many Member States as well as media & Civil Society.

The Global Food Forum aims at shaping the future of EU food systems, presenting the challenges and designing recommendations for decision makers, in order to foster growth, added value, and sustainability within the EU as a whole.

The event is organised by the think tank Farm Europe in cooperation with its partners. Since its first edition in 2016, the Global Food Forum has involved every year more than 600 key decision-makers in the course of  regional Forums across Europe and its main two-days event gathering top decision-makers together with high-level representatives of the European Farming Sector and other influencers.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the health restrictions the 2020 edition could not be organised. The 2021 edition will host a limited number of participants in the respect to the Covid-19 restrictions. 

Participants will be requested to show a valid EU Covid-19 Green Pass.

Agriculture & Green Deal: EU agriculture contribution to energy decarbonisation

In the field of transport, the EU wants to increase the current 14% to 24% renewable energy by 2030 to achieve its new level of ambition to reduce GHG emissions by 55% in 2030. For this purpose, the Commission is assessing and reviewing the REDII directive. European agriculture can play a decisive role in achieving the ambitious goals of the Green Deal. It already provided solutions reducing the carbon emissions of liquid fuels for example by 50-75. As the European Union is looking for ways for its Fit for 55 package, we are happy to invite you to the next event of the Green Energy Platform on EU agriculture contribution to energy decarbonisation

DEFORESTATION: WHICH STRATEGIES? Seizing the available tools for the EU to develop winning strategies to halt deforestation
